Focus on Ft. Lauderdale’s Central City Area . . .
H.O.M.E.S. has been fully committed to revitalization of the area now known as the Central City neighborhood of Ft. Lauderdale, since buying 2.3 acres of property located in the heart of that area (at NE 13th St. & Dixie Hwy.), in 2006.
Through ten (10) years of constant work and efforts taken in partnership with grassroots constituencies in the neighborhood, as well as the City of Ft. Lauderdale and Broward County – the Central City area is now on the cusp of positive transformation!
Some of our major steps causing a trajectory of change have been:
- Holding 2008 Neighborhood Stakeholder Charette;
- 2009 creation of 13th Alliance – now the Central City Alliance of local businesses, civic associations, & residents;
- Holding a series of festivals, walk-runs, celebrations & other public events with the Alliance - in the neighborhood, for the neighborhood;
- Implementing Public Art, Safety & Beautification Projects;
- Helping create new Central City CRA (Community Redevel-opment Area) in 2011 with the Alliance, City & County.
Leading by Example on Our Campus . . .
Putting money and resources where our mouths and beliefs are, H.O.M.E.S. has made every effort to create on our own property the change and values we hope to inspire in our neighbors!
